Iceland passport photo size & rules
Iceland is a volcanic island nation in the North Atlantic, sitting just below the Arctic Circle between Greenland and Norway, famous for its glaciers, geysers, lava fields and dramatic coastline. Icelandic passports are issued by Registers Iceland (Thjodskra Islands), the national registry responsible for identity documents and the biometric photo standards that applicants must follow.
An Icelandic passport photo measures 35mm wide by 45mm tall, equal to about 413 by 531 pixels at 300 DPI. Although Iceland is not in the EU, it is part of the Schengen Area and applies ICAO biometric standards: your face must be centred and facing the camera directly against a plain white or light grey background, with a neutral expression, closed mouth and both eyes open. Lighting must be even so there are no shadows on the face or backdrop.
This tool formats your Iceland passport photo entirely in your browser, so the image is never uploaded to a server and remains private on your own device, and it is free to use. Because requirements can be updated, always verify the current official rules from Registers Iceland before submitting your passport application.
