Spain passport photo size & rules
Spain uses the 35x45mm format for the passport and the DNI national ID card, equal to 413x531 pixels at 300 dpi. Unlike Germany and France, which favour a grey background, Spain specifically requires a plain white, uniform background. The face should be centred and take up a large part of the frame, with the head measuring roughly 32-36mm from chin to crown, following the standard biometric proportions used across the EU.
Because the Spanish background must be white, even lighting is important so no grey shadow appears behind the head. Face the camera directly with a neutral expression and mouth closed, both eyes open and clearly visible, and the whole face uncovered from the forehead down to the chin. Spain does not accept tilted heads, smiling, or hair covering the eyes. Glasses should be removed where possible; if worn, there must be no reflection and the eyes must remain visible. Head coverings are only accepted for religious reasons and must not hide any facial features. Photos must be recent and in sharp colour.
Pixohub crops your Spanish passport or DNI photo to 413x531 pixels on a clean white background directly in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and your image stays private on your device, and the service is free. Requirements from the Policia Nacional and the relevant Spanish authorities are updated periodically. Always confirm the current official specifications before printing or submitting your photo so your passport or DNI application is not delayed by a photo issue.
