Malta passport photo size & rules
Malta is a small archipelago in the central Mediterranean Sea, lying south of Sicily between Europe and North Africa, made up of the main island of Malta along with Gozo and Comino. Maltese passports are issued by Identita (the Identity Malta Agency) through its Passport Office, which sets the biometric photo requirements citizens must meet when applying.
A Maltese passport photo measures 35mm wide by 45mm tall, which is about 413 by 531 pixels at 300 DPI. As an EU and Schengen member, Malta follows ICAO biometric standards: your face must be centred and looking directly at the camera against a plain white or light grey background, with a neutral expression, closed mouth and both eyes open. Uniform lighting is required so there are no shadows across the face or the backdrop.
This tool prepares your Malta passport photo fully within your browser, so your picture is never uploaded to a server and stays private on your own device, and the service is completely free. Since official rules can change, always verify the current requirements from Identita and the Malta Passport Office before submitting your application.
