Japan Visa passport photo size & rules
Applications for a Japanese visa are submitted to the Embassy or Consulate-General of Japan, or through an accredited travel agency. The standard photo size is 45x45mm, equal to 531x531 pixels at 300 dpi. The photograph must be taken within the last six months, clearly show your face, and be affixed to the visa application form. Some embassies also print the name and date on the reverse of the printed photo.
Japan visa photos require a plain white or light plain background with no patterns and no shadows around the head. Face the camera directly with a neutral expression, keep both eyes open and the mouth closed, and ensure the head is centred with the full face and top of the shoulders visible. Remove hats and coloured or reflective glasses, and keep hair from covering the eyes. Head height should occupy an appropriate portion of the square frame. Photos that are too small, dark, glossy with glare, or digitally altered may be refused by the reviewing embassy.
Pixohub prepares your Japan visa photo entirely in your browser with no upload, keeping your image private on your own device, and it is free to use. Requirements can differ slightly between Japanese embassies and consulates and may change, so always verify the current official Japan visa photo requirements with the relevant Japanese embassy or consulate before submitting your application.
